The virtual MIDI Output

All MIDI events are sent to a Virtual MIDI Output. This can be seen just as a real MIDI port but software only. A MIDI compliant application (like Logic Pro or Live) can receive the events from the virtual port named OSCulator Out.

Foreword

Most of what happens in OSCulator is located in the Main Window. This is what you see when you first launch the program.

This window is used to configure the messages received by OSCulator and bind them to events. In a new document, the window is empty but OSCulator is listening to incoming OSC messages. As soon as it receives a message, it will be displayed in the list.

In the previous part of this tutorial, we have learned how to map TouchOSC switches to Logic Pro Mute switches. This last chapter will learn you how to map Sends and plugin parameters.

Controling Sends

Insert an auxiliary send for the 8 audio tracks, you can do this quickly by select all of them then insert one send on the first one:

In the first part of this tutorial, we have learned how to map TouchOSC faders to LogicPro Volume faders. Now, we will implement Mute switches control via TouchOSC buttons.

First, we have to know what the Logic object Audio 1 sends when its “mute” button is pressed or depressed. Let's have a look at the “monitor” we have previously created.

In this tutorial we will show how to setup a two-way link between your iphone or iPod Touch and Logic Pro 8.

:?: Why a two-way link is better than a one-way link?

Because controlled parameters will be perfectly and instantly synchronized on each device.
