Version 2.5.1 Update:
With the Perfect Pairing technology included in OSCulator starting version 2.5.1, the Wiimote connection is now much more reliable. Every macintosh starting OS version 10.4 (Tiger) is compatible with OSCulator ; a bluetooth adaptor, if not built-in the computer, is required to use the Wiimote.
The following chart is only useful to those that wish not to install the Perfect Pairing fix.
Previous Versions (before 2.5.1)
| Configuration | Observations |
|---|---|
| Intel Macs | |
| MacPro 2,66 Quad | OK |
| MacBook Pro | OK, sometimes requires mulitple tries. (HW: Cambridge Silicon Radio / Apple chip ; BT SW: 1.7.11f14) |
| MacBook (white) | OK |
| iMac Core Duo | OK |
| Mac Mini Core Duo 1.83 GHz | OK |
| Power PC Macs | |
| PowerBook G4 12"/867 | Works, but not stable. One solution that works well is to remove the device from the device list the Bluetooth Preferences panel. Doing this results in 90% successful Wiimote connections. |
| Mac Mini G4/1.67 | Like the PowerBook, works but not very stable. The workaround found previously works very well. |
| G5 | needs previous trick to work as for all mono-cpu machines. (HW: Cambridge Silicon Radio from 3rd party ; BT SW: 1.7.8f2) |
| Dual G5 | * with Kensington Bluetooth adapter : OK, , sometimes requires mulitple tries. * No problem with internal Apple Bluetooth adapter. |
